>>3097>Still looking at the papers as he begins to write on them with surprising levels of speed, Aiden then responds to Damian as he continues focusing."At the start, yes. I knew that I'd be getting myself in over my head. Well, more so than I already was."
>Finishing the writing, Aiden then flicks the pen down onto his desk with his index and middle fingers - perfectly perpendicular to the papers themselves."You can already tell that I have a penchant for impulsive decisions. One that I'm trying to remove."
>Looking back up at Damian more carefully, Aiden then elaborates."So now I can't help but feel that this is
my fault. I got you into this, and now you're a potential target to
anyone who could know your identity. You
and your parents."
>Rubbing his forehead with his fingers, Aiden then continues."For heaven's sake. Your mother was already captured twice. Now with this fake attempt, that makes it three times that Dana has been used as leverage. That can't really stand."
>Damian slowly shakes his head in response, as he murmurs a response."You can't really blame yourself for that, Aiden. Like you just said with me, there's no way that anyone would've known my identity."
>Nodding, Aiden then says in response:"That's true, yes. But there
is someone who does. Someone who is very familiar with the mining operations used to acquire Tenacium. The very same Tenacium used by our mystery perpetrator."
>Damian's eyebrow raises for a moment, before his eyebrow widens."Oh shit…."
>Aiden places the papers to the side as he continues to speak, his voice growing with irritation."The same person, who I trusted with my secret identity - and by extension yours. I'm hoping against hope that she didn't betray that, but I need to know for certain."
>Damian then rests the side of his head on his fingers, wincing silently as he recognizes the gravity of the situation."I mean….man, that's definitely playing with fire, isn't it?"
>Aiden nods as he says:"Go spend the rest of the day giving yourself some time off, Damian. You don't need to go out on patrol tonight as Arachnid if you don't want to. I'll keep an eye on your parents and make sure nothing happens to them. Also, I need to make a call right now - and get some straight answers now."
>Damian nods as he stands up, stating:"Thanks Aiden. I really appreciate that."
>Nodding in return, Aiden watches as Damian walks out of the office and closes the door shut behind him too.
