>Date: October 10th, 2017
>Time: 12:30 PM
>Location: Sanctuary City

>Hovering in the skies above the city, a pair of figures stand, seemingly on nothingness - gazing down at the metropolitan expanse below them. One of the figures, a woman dressed in ornate robes and wraps, looks down at her hand. As she caresses her palm softly, she then whispers something, barely audible to her partner.

"You're attempting the ritual here, Concordia? Why?"

>The woman, Concordia, then looks up at the man hovering before her - her eyes narrowing as she gives an amused expression on her face.

"Why else? The energy requirements for the spell are immense. If I am to free myself from this wretched entity, I will need a large enough energy source to supplement my magic. Besides…"

>Looking back down at the large expanse of the city below, she then says:

"Who better to aid in my ascension than the largest concentrated population of Meta-Humans in this country?"

>Holding a hand out, Concordia then watches as large vines, plant growths and other forms of vegetation begin to quickly spread out from the center of Sanctuary City - slowly covering the entire Downtown District. Although contained for now, the effect can potentially spread over time.

>The male figure then looks back at Concordia, raising an eyebrow.

"Do you think it wise to attract attention to ourselves at such a scale?! Have you no sense of strategic thought?"

>Concordia sighs and rolls her eyes as she then gives the man another smug smirk.

"Patience, Ba'al. You desire your freedom as badly as I do. To that end, our only recourse is the most efficient approach. This is that approach."

>As his white hair partially covers his face, Ba'al scoffs as he quickly flicks to the side. Now looking back down at the city below, he begins to state:

"Then your plan had better come to fruition soon, before our 'master' is made aware of our treachery."

>Location: Sanctuary City - Downtown Sector
>Time: 12:28 PM

"…I appreciate you deciding to come along with me here, Isaac. I really mean that…"

"….But? I sense a 'but' approaching."

>Isaac looks at Aiden from the passenger seat of the sports car, as Aiden continues driving it down the main streets of Sanctuary City.

"….But, I didn't need the help with basic errands. You know that I'm never busy during lunch break."

>Leading his head against his hand, Isaac rests his chin on his fingers as he presses against his cheek. Now looking out at the city through his window, he then replies to Aiden in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.

"I'm aware, Aiden. I'm not here for any ulterior motive. I just decided to hang out with you - that's all."

>Aiden exhales lightly as he continues driving, which prompts Isaac to give a look of slight amusement.

"What? Your best friend can't drop by to say 'hi' every now and then?"

>Aiden then immediately interjects, stating:

"You know that's not what I mean, Isaac. It's just….."

>Hesitating for a moment, Aiden rounds the corner and drives the car onto a perpendicular street, as he continues speaking.

"It's not you. It's just that I've had a lot of time to think. Ever since what happened to Miranda."

>Isaac's face immediately turns serious as he then says:

"…..Speaking of which, how's your cousin been? Is she alright?"

>Aiden nods slowly as his eyes dart across his immediate periphery - now more aware of his surroundings.

"Against all odds? Yes. She's managing for now, but she needs support. I think Marek and Jakob are staying with her for now at the manor."

>Both of them are silent for a moment, before Isaac then speaks up.

"You're still blaming yourself for what happened to her."

"No, I'm just considering how the situation could've changed if I was-"

"You're blaming yourself, Aiden. You're ruminating again."

>As the car stops at a traffic light intersection, Aiden finally turns to look at Isaac - a pained look behind his sunglasses.

"I'm supposed to be the guy who has it all figured out. At least that's how Damian and the others see me. I'm supposed to be prepared for everything, and have a plan for everything."

>Rubbing his eyelids behind his sunglasses, Aiden then turns back to face the front of the car.

"Yet despite that expectation, I was blindsided by Dyskrasia at the last moment. If I had just bothered to scan Chase's mind…."

>Isaac finishes his thought for him, crossing his arms as he does so.

"…..You could've preemptively stopped him before he hurt your cousin. I understand your frustration, but you had no way of knowing that was a possibility."

>The traffic light turns green as Aiden starts driving the car forwards once more. As they make their way closer to Central Square, Aiden then says:

"…..You're probably thinking that I'm just overthinking this."

>Isaac interjects with a clear tone of voice.

"I know that you're overthinking this, Aiden. It's in your nature to assume the worst. While that's a pragmatic approach, it's also an emotionally draining mindset to have. You've never dropped your guard since you first put on your suit."

>Closing his eyes for a brief moment, Aiden opens them as he exhales again. As he continues driving, he also listens to Isaac's words more intently.

"Pushing people away and guarding yourself with hostility may seem like a reasonable solution to your fears. But I promise you, it only makes things more problematic."

>Aiden then mentally braces himself, reflexively gritting his teeth as Isaac finally addresses the elephant in the room.

"I know you've been avoiding people. Orion, Lisa, Stephanie. You feel like you're causing more issues by being around them - but we both know that's not the case."

>Aiden, despite his initial reservations, chooses to press the issue further.

"…So in your estimation, why am I doing this? What am I afraid of? What's my greatest fear, in this sense?"

>Isaac calmly looks at Aiden as he leans back in his chair. Without a moment of hesitation, Isaac then says:

"You're afraid of losing the people you care about the most. The people you consider your family."

>Aiden gives a quick rebuttal.

"I have my actual family though. Mom and Dad. Phoebe, Jonah and my other siblings."

>Isaac then gives an even quicker response.

"Family is what you make of it - and in your case, family is everyone who you have a strong sense of affection for."

>Aiden reflexively squeezes on the steering wheel, as Isaac notices the quick motion. Realizing that he's succeeded in cracking open Aiden's defenses, he presses further.

"If you genuinely hated Orion and Lisa, you wouldn't have gone to the extent that you did to help them. Orion especially - since I can understand that he's….reserved. Much like you are."

>Isaac then makes a gesture with his hand, motioning towards the world outside of his window.

"There's also Hiyuki."

>Aiden immediately floors the gas, causing the car to accelerate just below the speed limit's grace window.

"Good to know I was right. You do care about her."

>Aiden gives Isaac the middle finger with his right hand, as he goes back to steering the wheel.

"No, I'm just reminded of how I gave away my only leverage when dealing with her - my identity."

>Isaac gives a light scoff, stating:

"As if you weren't aware of the potential risks. Yet you still did it. Why?"

>Aiden then looks back at Isaac, stating:

"You're right Isaac. You're my best friend, and you know me better than pretty much anyone else. You also know exactly when I'm this close to blowing a fuse."

>Isaac raises an eyebrow as he then closes his eyes and sighs.

"It's not a sign of weakness to care about people. It's how I know you're still human - even after all of your transformations and evolutions."

>Aiden gives another exasperated sigh as he starts focusing more on his driving once more.

"Alright then. If you're certain that I've got a strong predisposition towards care when it comes to other people - what makes you think that I'm ever going to bother giving them the time of day again? I don't need their help to do anything. I've never needed their help."

>Starting to drive more aggressively, Aiden feels his emotions start to flare up, as Isaac remains as calm as ever.

"Do I really have to say it?"

>Looking at Aiden before he answers, Isaac then says:

"Because you care about them too much to let anything happen to them."

>At that moment, Aiden stops the car - as they've parked at their destination. Surprised by how his brain was partially on autopilot, he then says:

"…If I care, it's because that's the right thing to do. It's how I was raised, and it's what I'm supposed to do."

>Isaac, as usual, interjects.

"Obligation is not the same as mandatory action. The two are not mutually exclusive."

>Isaac then taps at Aiden's chest with his finger - right above his heart.

"You choose to act because you care. You care because you choose to care."

>Moving his hand back, Isaac then concludes his statement.

"You have only ever done anything in your life because you choose to care, Aiden. That is the reason why you're my friend. I wouldn't see you as one, if you didn't care about people."

>Giving a soft smile, Isaac crosses his arms again and looks out of his window as he speaks.

"You may pretend to be an aloof jackass, and Lord knows that you're very good at it. But the character of a person can't be subdued. Eventually it shows itself - when it matters the most."

>Looking back at Aiden once more, Isaac then says:

"Your character is inherently good. As is Orion's, and Lisa's and everyone else that you care about."

>As Isaac looks at Aiden, the latter takes a moment to stare at the steering wheel in front of him.

"Is that why you picked me? For the Sorcery training, that is."

>Isaac thinks for a moment, before he sighs, giving an amused look.

"Despite your issues, I'd say that your desire to do the right thing is your most sacrosanct quality, Aiden. It's what I admire about your counterpart - as he helped me during my training as well."

>Aiden looks at Isaac in surprise as he says:

"Wait, Magister helped train you?"

>Isaac gives a fifty-fifty gesture with his hand as he replies to Aiden's question.

"Not necessarily. We both started our Sorcery training around the same time as teenagers. It's when I first met him - and he's been a close friend of mine ever since. His situation was a lot like yours - as he shares your same temperament. Your same strengths and weaknesses."

>Assuming a thinking gesture, Isaac then states:

"However, despite his rough exterior, I only saw him do good things for others. Much like you, he has a predilection for theatricality - and he can exaggerate his behavior to an almost unbearable degree."

>Aiden scoffs lightly as he crosses his arms.

"Figured as much. Apple doesn't fall far from the universal tree."

>Isaac then continues speaking:

"Despite that, however, I never once saw him give in and choose the easier path. He never threw away the considerations of others, and he always did what he could to put other people first."

>Isaac then stops for a moment, an epiphany reaching his mind.

"….Of course, he didn't go through his Sorcery alone. I was there with him every step of the way. No matter what happened in his life, he still had me at least."

>Turning towards Aiden, Isaac then says:

"….But you didn't. That was the only major difference between the two of you - it was whether or not you had a friendship with me."

>Aiden's eyes widen as he has the epiphany himself, as a wave of emotion comes over him. Pressing his hands on the steering wheel, he reflexively holds back any further displays of shock as he internalizes the fact.

"….I always wondered if I felt like something was missing in my life."

>Aiden stops speaking, but Isaac already understands what he's implying.

"….You feel as though I stole your place in this universe. If I didn't exist, then you'd be just like Magister."

>Remaining silent, Aiden slowly takes his hands off of the steering wheel and looks away.

"I won't deny that. Yeah, I did feel that way for the longest time, once I learned that Magister existed."

>Aiden takes a moment to look at his hands, then look at his face in the mirror. Although he's wearing sunglasses, he can perfectly see beyond them - seeing his own blue eyes staring back at himself.

"Ever since I first met my counterpart, I've noticed just how quickly I started to mirror him. My powers, my appearance with my sunglasses and hair. Even learning magic. All of it feels like a repeat of him - like an echo. Like I'm copying him down to my very core."

>Looking back at Isaac for a moment, Aiden then looks him dead in the eye and asks:

"….Did you pick me as your apprentice as a consolation to me? As some instinctual way of saying sorry?"

>Isaac looks at Aiden back, directly eye-to-eye as he then speaks without hesitation.

"No. I picked you because you had the potential to learn some of the highest forms of magic as my apprentice. Just like how Magister was chosen for his Sorcerer position in his universe. It's because you both had the same immense potential. Besides…."

>Isaac adjusts his watch as he says:

"You're right. If I didn't exist, the Crystal likely would've chosen you."

>Realization washes over Aiden's body as Isaac confirms his suspicions. Sighing, Aiden then shakes his head, stating:

"I wouldn't take it."

>Raising an eyebrow, Isaac turns to Aiden, now bewildered for once.

"Aiden, are you certain of that? Without question?"

>Aiden nods slowly as he turns back to face Isaac, stating.

"Yeah, without a shadow of a doubt."

>Confused, Isaac begins to question Aiden for an answer.

"But why? You suspected that I took your role from you, did you not? Why would you turn down something you feel was yours by right?"

>Aiden then gives a soft smile as he reaches for the keys to the car.

"It's because I would've been chosen beforehand that I would've turned it down. You know the one thing I can't stand is when people assume that everything is given to me. I had to deal with it my entire life, living in the shadow of my father's legacy."

>Turning off the car with the keys, Aiden then says:

"I'm my own person by my own force of will. Just like you and everyone else, Isaac. That's what's sacrosanct to me. The ability to make something of myself. Because that is true Power."

>Isaac thinks for a moment before he begins to laugh.

"….Power, huh? I like that. I think that concept fits you very well."

>Isaac then places his hands in his pockets as he nods up at the sky.

"I assume you noticed their arrival a few minutes ago?"

>As Aiden gets out of the car, he locks it with his keys as he flicks them into his jacket's inner pockets.

"Yeah. Sorcerers. Only two of them, and they've started with transmogrification of the air into plant life."

>Isaac nods as he says:

"So what does that tell you?"

>Without missing a beat, Aiden replies:

"That they're rudimentary casters. Likely requiring an external source of power to fuel a transmogrification spell at this scale. That means they're looking for strong energy sources."

>Looking over his back at Isaac, Aiden then concludes:

"They're targeting Meta-Humans, and Sanctuary City's full of them."

>Nodding, Isaac gives Aiden a smile as he says:

"I told you I made a good choice when picking an apprentice. Take care of them, without harming them. I'll monitor your progress from the Axiom."

>Aiden then nods as Isaac disappears in an instant, after having given Aiden a quick two-finger salute. Now alone once more, Aiden thinks back to his previous words.

{"That's what's sacrosanct to me. The ability to make something of myself. Because that is true Power."}

>His blue eyes then flare with red light - as he focuses on the final word in his thoughts.

{"Power."}

>Looking back up at the sky, Aiden then says to himself:

"Well, I picked a nice day for rain."

>He then dashes off in a distant, faster than the human eye can perceive. In a few moments, a black and red blur is rushing across the skies - heading straight towards the plant growths appearing in Downtown Sanctuary City.

>Location: Downtown - Sanctuary City
>Time: 12:35 PM

>As Concordia and Ba'al continue hovering in the air, they begin moving along with the growth of the supernatural vegetation that is rapidly growing throughout Downtown Sanctuary City. As cars, busses and other vehicles are quickly overrun by the supernatural vines and moss - the two Sorcerers look over their work in satisfaction.

"Once enough Meta-Humans are absorbed into the mass, the transmogrification spell can catabolize their essence. It will provide us with the power we need to undo the binding spell that he placed on us."

>Concordia speaks, as Ba'al looks on aimlessly. Seeing countless Meta-Human civilians being swallowed up and consumed by the magic vegetation. Absent-mindedly, he says:

"Will this be enough, Concordia? We are lacking the time and the luxury of second chances. If we do not act soon, our master will discover our plot."

>Concordia sighs as she waves a dismissive hand at her partner, stating:

"All that matters is that we have achieved our goal. The power to free ourselves from his grasp…."

>In that moment, however, the skies of Sanctuary City become cloudy - as a large thunderstorm suddenly begins to manifest in the skies above. Bewilderment crosses Concordia's face as she begins to narrow her eyes - examining the weather formation.

"What is this? There was no indication of any weather changes-"

>Then it hits her, as she begins detecting the composition of the first drops of water from the clouds.

"….Purifier mana droplets? How?!"

>Ba'al's eyes widen as he recognizes the same phenomenon, utterly confused by the appearance of the rare magical objects.

"Someone in this city has already detected our presence and constructed a counter spell?! That's impossible! There are no prominent magicians in this city!"

>Then, a voice speaks from behind them both - causing both of them to turn around quickly.

"I wouldn't be too sure of that. Besides…"

>As Mosaic hovers in place in front of the two sorcerers, he crosses his arms, stating:

"I figured today would be a good day for rain."

>As the magical purifier droplets fall to the ground, they splash against the magical vegetation and moss - causing it to rapidly wither and disintegrate. Soon, all of the Meta-Human civilians trapped by the magical plants and vines are soon freed - as the overcast weather still pours down from above.

"Would you mind telling me why you decided to harvest the lives of humans here? Or do I have to force an answer out of the two of you?"

>Concordia immediately casts an incantation, creating a powerful dimensional barrier between herself and Mosaic - as Ba'al is left out of the spell's protection.

"Concordia you witch! I knew I shouldn't have trusted you!"

>Concordia gives a soft laugh as she says:

"Apologies, my friend. But I must ensure that at least one of us is freed from the master's grasp."

>Before Ba'al can make a move to attack Concordia, Mosaic performs a hand gesture to cast a spell. The resulting spell is a series of bright mist particles, which quickly swirl around Ba'al - causing him to pass out soon after.

>As he now holds Ba'al up in the air with his telekinetic power, Mosaic turns to face Concordia once again.

"So it's self-preservation then? That's the reason?"

>Using another gesture, Mosaic creates a magical portal, banishing Ba'al to a pocket dimension where the Sorcerers Supreme can grab him. Afterwards, he then turns his attention to Concordia.

>Noticing the quickness and efficiency of his magic casting, Concordia begins to tense up - knowing that her incoming confrontation will be anything but easy.

"Skilled enough to cast without requiring incantations. Fascinating. I was hoping to find someone as powerful as you to help me."

>Mosaic continues hovering in the air, staring down the mysterious sorceress as he replies:

"I've learned not to trust the word of strangers. Especially after they've shown their intentions."

>Concordia sighs as she then holds her hands out, appearing to surrender.

"By all means, assume hostility with my actions, insofar as you have no other choice. But you do have a choice, no?"

>Smiling, Concordia begins hovering over towards Mosaic, attempting to work her charm.

"I seek only freedom from the oppressive entity that constrains me. In order to save my life from an untimely death, I chose to make a pact with an otherworldly God. A being of immense power."

>Looking over at the city below, Concordia speaks once more.

"I chose to use my newfound power to slay my tormenters. Burn down the civilization that used me as a tool. A mere battery."

>Placing a hand on her chest, she then says:

"For millennia, I have served my God. I have waged and won wars across dimensions for him. I have killed and dominated and conquered in his name. Yet it was never enough. He would demand more and more of me - his loyal subject."

>Turning away and closing her eyes, the woman then states:

"But it was never enough, and I had not the power to go against him."

>Opening her eyes, the woman then turns back towards Mosaic, saying:

"Until now. I have studied this world for ages, and I have determined that the Meta-Humans hold enough power to grant me liberation from this oppression."

>Mosaic, having been silent this whole time, finally speaks up, stating:

"Oppression you chose to endure for the sake of power. When you make a deal with the Devil - you read the terms first."

>Concordia then looks at Mosaic, an amused look on her face as she speaks.

"Well, find yourself in a moment of desperation and plead to your God in that very same moment. You will find his acknowledgement all the more vindicating."

>Mosaic is silent for a moment before he then states:

"I already know what that feels like. Much like you, I had a choice - and I almost made the wrong choice."

>Looking down at his gloved hand, he continues speaking:

"I almost took the life of another person out of anger - and it was only by divine intervention that he survived, and became an even greater monster because of it."

>Concordia considers the words for a moment, before she then slowly hovers closer to Mosaic. As she does this, she begins placing her hands on his arm - looking at him through his mask.

"Quite a story. You feel regret towards your actions, no? Regret is the most palatable of emotions."

>The sorceress then begins slowly feeling Mosaic's arm, attempting to appeal to his ego in multiple ways.

"For one as strong as yourself, freedom must come easily. The freedom that I so desperately long for."

>Looking down at Mosaic, the Sorceress then begins slowly tracing a finger across his chest - exhaling softly as she does.

"Grant me my freedom, and I will bestow onto you all that you could possibly desire…."

>Mosaic is silent for a moment, as he then takes his arm and wraps it around her own.

"….Maybe there is something that I actually desire…"

>Then, he takes his free hand and presses a device against her back, as he says:

"….But desires are just that. Desires. They mean nothing without the will to see things through."

>As the device in Mosaic's hand begins to glow - a bright light begins to envelope Concordia. Screaming, she then realizes the trap too late, as she shouts profanities at Mosaic.

"Deceitful little wizard! You will rue the day you betrayed me! This, I vow!"

>Waving her off dismissively, Mosaic then says:

"Get in line, lady. It's stretching on for miles at this point."

>As the bright light continues to envelop Concordia, she then screams in pain as the blinding light then disappears into the disc-like device in Mosaic's hand.

>Looking down at the Babylon Disc in his hand, he then sees Concordia, trapped in a specially constructed pocket dimension within the disc's interiors.

"Now to send this to the Sorcerers Supreme."

>Location: The Axiom - Nexus of Magic
>Time: Indeterminate

>As the Babylon Disc containing Concordia and now Ba'al, sits on the table before them - Mosaic crosses his arms as he speaks to Doctor.

"What are you going to do with them?"

>Doctor then looks at Mosaic, stating:

"We'll send them to the Bazaar's representative tribunal. Though they're more of a provisional mage government that handles trade affairs, they have been known to handle attempted incursions on other dimensions."

>Gesturing to the Babylon Disc on the table, Doctor then says:

"They'll likely be tried and sentenced - stripped of their magical casting abilities with artifact implants."

>Nodding, Mosaic then looks at the Disc as he speaks:

"I remember what you said before, Isaac. About choosing me as an apprentice because of my potential. Although I don't think I'd ever want to me Sorcerer Supreme - I do want to thank you for teaching me about magic."

>As Doctor nods in return, he taps Mosaic on the shoulder as he turns to walk out of the Axiom's living room area.

"Don't mention it. Speaking of which, you and Stella still have some training to do this week. Stephanie and I have to get you all prepared - in case the other magician group decides to pick a fight with you all on Earth."

>Sighing, Mosaic nods his head as he begins walking with Doctor into the Axiom's larger hallways.

"I figured as much. It never really ends, does it?"

>Laughing, Doctor then looks to his side at Mosaic, replying:

"One thing you'll learn really quickly about being a hero of sorts, Aiden - is that the job never ends. You just learn to appreciate the good you do along the way."

>Tapping the side of his helmet, Mosaic then says:

"Figured as much. I've still got a ways to go then."

>Doctor snaps his fingers as a staircase magically appears before them - to walk upwards.

"Believe me. We all do."

>Both of the men then walk upstairs into the Axiom's upper levels, leaving the living area behind entirely.
